| Welcome to the inaugural
OurFest 2010, Auckland's new festival for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities.
Years past have seen GLBT Aucklanders rally behind festivals and causes which have fought to legalise our right to be who we are, to be treated equally as citizens, and to have our relationships recognised. Battles have been hard fought, and won, and it can be too easy to forget how far we've come. In 2010, we feel it's high time that GLBT people in Auckland have the opportunity to recognise achievement and celebrate the community spirit that exists today. For this, the first OurFest, we have compiled a modest programme of diverse events which we hope will grow in the coming years, culminating in the 2010 OurFest Awards - a formal evening of dinner and entertainment where we can look back on the milestones reached in our respective communities over the past year, to pay tribute to the individuals who have been role models, given us something to be proud of, or simply made our world a better place to be. Auckland is a vibrant city, and the GLBT communities have an important role to play in cementing our place as a tolerant and progressive Pacific capital. As a registered charity, OurFest seeks to bring together the many men and women who make up our communities, with a festival in which we can all play a part and take ownership of. Any surplus funds from the 2010
OurFest Awards will benefit
Body Positive and
